At harvest time, the gardens are abundant with fresh herbs and late season flowers . . . producing more sprigs then you could possibly eat, so why not make a smudge stick for clearing and cleansing stagnant energy?
Making a smudge stick is easy and a great way to also preserve herbs for the winter, as you can crumble a little bit into your dish. You probably won’t want to use the same stick for smudging as you do for cooking. In this class we will have enough materials/time to create two bundles. Smudge sticks also make great gifts, especially for the spiritual folks in your life, as they will truly appreciate the time you put into wrapping the sage sticks.
Making your own smudge stick is fun and easy! Mavis will provide some locally harvested herbs and plants, as well as other flowers to create this beautiful sacred tool. She will show you the step-by-step process of making a smudge stick, tell you the plants' stories, as well as the history of smudging. A smudge ceremony will also be performed to help guide you.
Cost of class is $15 and includes enough materials for two bundles. Please feel free to bring your own herbs or anything you’d like to include. Class size is limited, so please RSVP to (906) 225-5020 to reserve your spot.
